A small but well curated museum outlining the life of Noble laureate and poet Pablo Neruda. This was one of the houses he lived in. The audio guide is included in the price of admission. The self guided audio tour starts with a short documentary on his life. You can then walk through the various rooms housing artifacts collected by Pablo Neruda. Photography is not allowed inside the rooms

Worth to visit! Very well prepared audio guide (also in English) which explains the spaces of the house when you walk through the rooms of the house. Actually, I was very delighted with the audio guide: the stories were compact, not boring, straight to the point. It’s different from other houses-museums I’ve visited because it was more a house than the museum what it makes even more unique. Unfortunately, it’s not much accessible: people who have difficulties walking, climbing the stairs should really consider visiting it. There are a lot of narrow stairs to climb and the handrails are not very trustable.

La Chascona is a beautiful house and an even better lesson in political irony. The audio guide passionately celebrates Pablo Neruda's commitment to communism while walking you through a lavish hillside mansion filled with expensive art, imported collectibles, and souvenirs from his world travels. Apparently, the revolution is much easier to champion when you're doing it from one of your multiple homes. The fact that this house was originally built to hide his mistress only adds to the experience. Nothing says "man of the people" quite like a secret love nest packed with luxury and breathtaking views. Worth visiting for the architecture alone. Stay for the accidental comedy.
